Customers who’ve had a positive experience are often willing to share their stories with family, friends, and co-workers. Consider using incentives to get your satisfied customers talking.

In a recent study by a leading Texas university, insurance agents asked their customers for referrals. One group of agents gave out small gifts as a token of appreciation and the other group sent thank you notes. On average, customers who got the gift provided 23% more referrals.

If you want to get your clients talking, try sending them something unusual, fun, or useful – that identifies with your business.

Studies have shown that food gifts have a very high recall, more than most any other business gift category. If you’ve ever had our English butter toffee, delivered in packaging that makes a statement, you would never question why.

Pantone, the ultimate authority on color, has chosen Tangerine Tango as its top color for 2012. A lively, eye-catching shade of orange, Tangerine Tango communicates both warmth and energy. You can expect to see it in fashion, interior design and more this year.

So what does that mean for you? While we can’t get you, say, a Tangerine Tango t-shirt, we can borrow inspiration from this color to energize your next promotion. Take a look at the following suggestions.

Orange is a surprisingly versatile color for apparel. It looks great with navy, brown and, yes, even black. It will also carry over into the fall, so you don’t need to worry about looking too summery come September.

This insulated lunch tote is sure to draw attention to your logo.

An orange mug provides a little extra pick-me-up with your morning (or mid-afternoon) caffeine fix.

On many promotional products, a one-color imprint is perfect. But, for times when you really want to wow your audience, think full-color imprints.

Full-color imprints allow for multiple colors, half-tones and shades. For example, check out these hand sanitizers with a full-color label.

Full-color imprints are typically more expensive than one-color imprints, and tend to work best on white or light-colored items. Not all items are available with full-color imprints. However, we currently offer them on t-shirts, mugs, note pads and more.

A half a cent. $0.005.

That’s the average cost per impression created when advertisers market their message using promotional products such as imprinted apparel, pens, mugs, awards, and calendars.

A worldwide study conducted in July and August found that the following promotional items are generating these favorable numbers:

Total number of impressions per item per month

Bags: 1,078

Caps/Headwear: 443

Writing instruments: 437

Shirts: 344

Calendars: 295

The study also revealed:

41% of respondents have a more favorable opinion of the advertiser after receiving a promo product.

60% of people who receive promo products do business with the advertiser afterward.

83% indicated they can identify the advertiser on a promotional item they own.

The survey’s conclusion? Promotional products are among the best values in all advertising media and they can give even small organizations the same return on investment that Fortune 500 companies enjoy with television and other mass marketing.

Cool weather is here. Cold weather is coming. Every warm blooded mammal takes heed to this eventuality.

For the outdoorsman, and especially our military, cold weather is something that is not taken lightly. Not only can cold weather be uncomfortable, it can be dangerous.

I collected a large number of cold weather gear during my military career. I can also tell you exactly where I obtained it, when I obtained it, and who I obtained it from, even without decoration to remind me of these facts. When you use cold weather gear, the spirit of thanks and grateful emotions fill the part of the brain that tells you to keep warm for your own survival.

You can be certain that if you give a gift of warmth, you will be remembered.

Many people don’t realize that the deserts of Iraq and Afghanistan are extremely cold in the winter. When I was serving as a Special Forces Operator in Afghanistan, the brand we relied upon for our cold weather headgear was Carhartt.

This 100% Acrylic stretch rib-knit face mask from Carhartt features Thinsulate (TM) Flex 40g insulation for warmth, and extra length to protect your neck in cold weather.

For the hunters this season, keep your ears warm with several available designs of hunter’s camouflage watch caps.

It is true that without proper winter head gear much of one’s body heat is lost through the head.

According to a recent report, the average logoed headgear is used 4 times per month, but gleans 112 customer impressions per month. This translates to an advertiser’s cost of $0.002 per impression – that’s two-tenths of a penny for each time the logo is viewed – using average item costs with the average time a customer keeps a logoed cap.*

Return on Investment. It’s something scarce in a tough economy. Everyone wants a positive rate of return and advertisers who use promotional products are no different.

Caps, mugs, bags, and shirts. When decorated with your logo, do they leave a lasting impression on your target market? An in-depth research report says they do, and that corporate awards may work better than any other advertising specialty.

A recent industry survey asked recipients of promotional products if they were likely to do business with the advertiser. Here are some of the findings:

Nearly 70 percent who received a logoed cap, mug, bag or shirt said they were likely to do business with the advertiser. However, the recipients of corporate awards bested the field with 77 percent saying that they were likely to do business with the advertiser.

This news is especially good for employers who use awards as a tool to help retain high-quality employees. Corporations of all sizes, as well as military and government outfits, use awards to motivate and retain employees. Rewarding high sales production and recognizing excellent service are two examples of how organizations use awards.

Non-profit organizations can use this information, too. This market segment uses awards to motivate donors and recognize volunteers, both of which are vital to their existence.

Of course, there is an art to selecting the right product for each advertisers’ target audience. The award does not have to be of high value or expensive, but it has to be a quality product or else the message will be lost. A low-quality award would likely result in a negative reaction – the opposite of what the advertiser intended.

Product options in the award market number in the thousands. To help you select the one that will work best for your organization is why we’re here.
